A place to learn how to effectively and fairly communicate with your new puppy. The weeks between 10 weeks old and 16 weeks old are microscopic window of time to layer in a obedience foundation
Very good. Another way to teach this is to open the kennel door, command "Wait" and when the dog starts to push forward, simply close the door on them. That teaches them quickly that the "Wait" command is to be obeyed. when ready to get the puppy out of the kennel, command "Fido - come - here - touch" and then "Fido -ok (your release word)". Or you can shape them into a "Sit", then the "Fido - ok".
The importance of training a puppy to "Wait" is that it teaches a puppy to respect boundaries and to wait for the next command. This training, done well, will someday save your dogs life.
