A place to learn how to effectively and fairly communicate with your new puppy. The weeks between 10 weeks old and 16 weeks old are microscopic window of time to layer in a obedience foundation
This is Abby and at 10 weeks old we have taken her to Mexico because we wanted her to grow up bilingual.😉 Ha Ha! So they are not posted in order but the one of her standing on the beach is her first introduction to the great big ocean. She did not like it that much. I think it overwhelmed her.
the only picture here of training is Abby dragging her check cord. When it gets tight Richard recalls her and then releases her and she runs off to be called back again. It’s a fun game to her but she is learning not to pull and to come back when called.
Critical a puppy learn to respect and obey the 'pressure' from a line. No need to have a puppy believe that dragging a person is acceptable, it is not. This simple and easy practice of doing Recalls each and every time there is drag, AKA 'pressure' on the line, trains the young puppy to seek direction from its owner. It is laying in critical understanding for the formal obedience work. AND it trains the puppy to return to you, always. That can save a dog's life.
