7-7-23 Owner Mickie and 15-week old puppy, Maggie. Second puppy lesson at the Lion's Park.

This was our 2nd puppy lesson.  Mickey and Maggie (sometimes I did the work with puppy Maggie), worked on the following exercises:

1) The 'Walk' on check cord. Every time Maggie moved or pulled away (pressure on the collar), there was an immediate 'Maggie - Here-Touch' command. We are teaching the puppy that 'pressure' = return to owner.  THIS IS A CRITICAL LIFE LESSON FOR EVERY PUPPY.

2)  Here Mickie has a current student with her grown dog, Molly (getting her ready to compete in AKC Obedience Trials in August), demonstrating the 'Let's go, Sit' sequence. Alas, Mary has forgotten many of the puppy training she did with Molly just 1.5 years ago.

3)  So, Roxanne then works Maggie and does the demonstration work.  Roxanne also uses the 'Step-Hup' command, the 'Let's go' and the 'Sit' commands.  At the end of the video, Roxanne introduces Maggie to the 'Stand'.  Not so easy to do with a wiggly puppy-:)

REALLY IMPORTANT TO NOTICE MY HAND POSITIONS

Wiggly Maggie

The rear legs are correct, but her front legs are at an angle, they should be 90 degrees straight under her shoulders.

Not good at all, but doing Stack Stand is tough work-:)

Maggie listening intently to my teaching-:)

And now owner Mickie gets to work with Maggie doing the Stack Stand. Tough to do, takes a ridiculous amount of patience.

And that was it for Maggie!!
